On my 2.9″ ST‐GR29000s red is only shown as grey. FW41 0x29.

Even if I use a static image with only red letters from AP, they are shown as grey.

On all of my devices from same type.

Anything what I do wrong here? Or what can I adjust or test to get black and red pixels?

Try and replace the batteries.
It sounds like weak batteries.

Was it the batteries' fault?

Was not able to test it, because the devices are in a location. Will do at the weekend.

Whatever I try, even with complete new batteries, shown as >= 2,6V and even with date content from AP

Image

the devices are still only showing the red in grey.

You can set the refresh to "Always full refresh" to get rid of the Grey

Wow. It is working. Thanks so much.

But kind of surprise. Why did this work in the past without this setting and why is it working on all other device types without it? It is only this device type which is currently not working with "auto".

The fast refresh is just a hack and would need calobration on each display.

You basically pay for speed with color quality

Don't get this. Is was not set to fast refresh, but to Auto. Aus always in the past and as at all other device types. But only the one type is now grey,

Maybe the gray one is in a colder room? In summer it works better then in winter. And 'auto' is fast refresh (except once a day a full refresh). Anyway, epaper 'ink' is very analog. The particles have to be asked nicely if they are willing to move towards the front or the back of the screen. They not always fully obey.

No. All of the gray ones (5 of same type/modell) only show grey with auto. All other types show red with auto. And the 5 showed red some time ago as. But perhaps auto s not there until then. And all devices of oall types have the same FW.
